Check-List
Before participating on an international trade fair or on a match-making event, you must be prepared and have enough information to minimise risks and optimise investments.
Check the main steps below for good planning:
1. Research the target market. Each country may have specific commercial barriers or technical standards that must be respected. Geography and seasons must also be considered.
2. Adapt packages, verify the meaning of the product name on the market, if it sounds good and doesn`t have a strange connotation.
3. Check the logistics and distribution cost: how the product will get to the target market, by which channels.
4. Research competitors in the market and price level to make sure your product can be competitive.
5. Contact the main chambers of commerce and consulates on the market to be aware of the rules, culture, mandatory certificates, brand registration and the main distribution channels.
6. Verify which are the incident taxes on your product exported to the target market.
7. Define the total cost and a price list for your external markets.
8. Prepare your website in the market language.
9. Prospect local customers or distributors, invite them to visit your website.
10. Establish a routine for effective communication with your customers.
